Google Android gets a good work over

Google have announced that their open platform mobile phone operating system has received a major update. The update is for some reason codenamed "cupcake"

The update encompasses a huge list of improvements and fixes but also adds in some completely new functionality. The updates will start arriving on G1 developer handsets.

As is usual with these sorts of things the release date is an unknown but it may be available to the public during the first quarter of 2009.
