Mobiles phones have come a long way since the bulky handsets that hit the market twenty years ago, with the latest mobiles you are able to:
- Surf the internet
- Download and upload videos
- Check your email
- Watch television
- Listen to music
- Take great photographs
In the UK alone 30 million handsets were sold last year and our desire for the latest handset seems to be limitless.
Here are some of the main features that have been tempting us into upgrading.
The latest 3G technology handsets are now capable of downloading videos and with more and more providers offering TV
channels to tune into you can now carry around your very own mini television.
You can expect to get up to 5 megapixel resolution on the latest handsets which are now competing with the best digital cameras on the market.
Images can now be stored in the telephone or on a removable memory card which you can upload onto your computer.
Most mobile phones have at least one or two games on the phone and now with 3G technology enabling remote web access you can download games at a press of a button.
And the future?
The mobile has the potential to become the one gadget to rule them all, the industry have already taken on many consumer electronic categories like digital cameras, music players and now they have personal navigation in their sights.
As for the handsets we could be looking at tough carbon fibre mobiles with impressive touch screens.
